Emergency Shelter: Daytime Shelter Host
A warming shelter has been established in Wilson County to provide emergency warmth, shelter, and necessary support for up to 40 individuals during extreme weather. Wilson County (EMA) and local community partners will be involved in coordinating logistics, personnel, and facility needs. Due to the upcoming forecast of below-freezing temperatures and snow, the shelter will also be open during the day on January 10 from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Opening the shelter will require staff from WEMA and local law enforcement, as well as many volunteers.
As a Daytime Shelter Host, you will have a chance to:
- Sit down with someone who may be feeling isolated or marginalized and simply listen to their story.
- Share a warm cup of coffee and offer a moment of comfort and companionship.
- Build meaningful connections and bridge the gap between different walks of life.
- Offer a listening ear and a supportive presence to someone who may need it most.
